Is it nearly a forgotten legend on the Mississippi?
Jan 04,2021
There are days when the Steamboat NATCHEZ elicits feelings of being alone. It carries memories of a time when there were thousands of paddlewheelers – hundreds just docked side-by-side along the New Orleans Riverfront. It was then that the river held a certain magical spell over America. Today you can see this last steamer on the Mississippi, taking voyagers out for a brief trip back in time. It is a ghost, a memory, a glimpse, a throwback, a mystery. God Bless the NATCHEZ, for it makes us remember who we were, and how we came to be a strong nation.
